You have been thrown back in time to one of the greatest and most defining times in our nation’s history – the American Revolutionary War. The war has not begun yet, but a series of events are unfolding that are causing colonists to waver in their loyalty to the English crown. Many of the top leaders in the colonies are calling for independence, while some are arguing that the colonies must stay loyal to England. In a few days the Continental Congress members from New York will be meeting with the rest of the Congress to hear arguments for and against the decision to fight for independence. It is up to you and a group of your fellow colonists to create a persuasive speech to convince the New York congressmen of your position. The fate of our country rests in your hands – Good Luck!
